*It will be possible to fit more baggage in a station wagon (group F) as this is the equivalent of a UK estate car.

When comparing car hire costs it’s important that you check what’s included as some companies' prices don't incorporate all the insurance you’ll need or many of the compulsory local charges.

In addition, our Excess Reduction Supplement option offers a discount on the excess reduction insurance that you would normally pay locally.
We are delighted to offer our new Excess Reduction Supplement which enables you to pre-pay for Excess Reduction Insurance at a discounted rate. Previously it was only possible to pay this insurance locally in New Zealand when collecting your rental vehicle. We found that the majority of our clients were choosing to reduce the excess, so we negotiated the Excess Reduction Supplement to allow you to pre-pay this insurance in the UK at a cheaper rate than would be offered locally in New Zealand, thus saving you money AND giving you the peace of mind afforded by full insurance cover. Supplements are £10 per day, or £11 for car groups F, V, P & W. See 'Vehicle Insurance' to compare the cost of paying locally versus buying in advance.
EARLY BOOKING UPGRADE OFFER

RELOCATION SPECIAL
Visitors to New Zealand always seem to hire cars in a north to south direction resulting in a surplus of vehicles in the southern depots. Trailfinders are pleased to offer special discounted prices on cars going in the other direction. These prices are valid for travel from Christchurch to Picton and Wellington to Auckland only. Valid 1 Apr 08 - 31 Mar 09.
FREE ONE WAY HIRES
Avis offer free one way hires between all locations in New Zealand (subject to vehicle availability).

Visiting both islands as part of a single hire involves using a different car on each island, with cars being picked up/dropped off at either Picton or Wellington ferry terminals and clients travelling by ferry as foot passengers. The minimum hire period for car groups A-E is 3 days per island and 5 days per island for car groups F, V, P & W. Prices will be classed as one continuous hire as long as the second car is picked up within 5 hours. Prior notice of 5 days must be given to Avis for this change-over service. Continuous hire is also allowed between Rotorua and Christchurch (and vice versa) if you wish to fly between the two.
